The only way to make progress
is to take action, to take the first step.

Insight is Overrated
There are plenty of experts who will share insights. There are millions of podcasts to listen to, whitepapers to read, research findings to absorb. The evidence is here.
We do not lack insights.
​
What we need is the courage to take uncertain steps.
What we need is the humility in accepting we will not always get it right.
What we need is the resolve to try and do something we've never done before...

After all:

"If you want something you've never had before, you're gonna have to do something you've never done before"
Missteps are inevitable
The most inclusive leaders, despite their best efforts, will sometimes exclude.
We are social animals. Our brains are designed to keep us safe. Safety is traditionally within our own groups (the in group). Biased, automatic judgments are made about people not in our own social groups (the out groups).

If we are not, slowly, consciously including, it means that by default, we are excluding. (1,2)
​
Furthermore, even the best intentions can lead to unintended consequences.
​
We WILL make missteps. But the only fundamental mistake is to not get started.
We need to get going and learn from missteps with vulnerability, transparency and accountability.
